You can start booking a storage room from your phone in a couple of minutes. What takes longer is the part before that: knowing what you're storing, roughly how long for, and which location suits you. Get those straight and the booking itself is quick.
Here's how booking works at Self Storage India, step by step, and what to have ready at each stage.
How does booking a storage unit online work?
You request a quote through the form on our website, or call us. Our team calls you back, looks at what you want to store, suggests a room size and gives you the price. Once you agree, they coordinate your move-in. You can also visit any of our facilities in Delhi, Gurugram or Noida to see the rooms first.
| Step | What you do | What you'll need |
|---|---|---|
| 1. List your items | Note the furniture, appliances and boxes | A rough list, or photos of each room |
| 2. Estimate the size | Run your list through the storage calculator | Your list |
| 3. Choose a location | Pick Delhi, Gurugram or Noida | Where you'll be living while things are stored |
| 4. Request a quote | Fill in the free quote form or call | Name, mobile number, email |
| 5. Talk to the team | Confirm the size, price, plan terms and move-in date | Your questions (see below) |
| 6. Move in | Pack, label and bring your goods in, or arrange transport | Packed and labelled goods, an inventory |
Step 1 and 2: how do you work out what you're storing?
Walk through each room and write down everything that's going: beds, sofas, almirahs, appliances, and an estimate of how many boxes. Photos help too. Then put the list into our storage calculator to get a size to start from.
Don't worry about getting it exactly right. The team will check it with you on the call. But a list makes that conversation much faster, and you're less likely to end up with a room that's too small. For a sense of what typically goes with a whole flat, see what size storage unit fits a 1BHK, 2BHK or 3BHK.
Step 3: which location should you choose?
Choose the facility closest to where you'll be while your things are in storage, not necessarily where they're coming from. If you'll visit often, distance matters more than you'd think.
Step 4: how do you request a quote online?
Click "Get Free Quote" on any page of our site. The form asks for your full name, mobile number and email, and you send it with "Request Callback". Someone from the team then calls you. If you'd rather talk straight away, call us on +91-9090206090.
Step 5: what should you ask before you confirm?
Use the call to get every term clear. Make sure you know:
- The room size and why it suits your list
- The monthly price and what it includes, plus any deposit and GST
- The minimum period and how much notice you give to end the plan; see monthly vs long-term storage
- How payment works and when it's due each month
- Access: when you can visit, and how someone else can access the room on your behalf
- What you can't store, such as flammables and gas cylinders; see our storage rules
- Which documents you'll need to bring or send at move-in
- Transport: whether you'd like help arranging it through our partners
Ask for the agreed terms in writing. Our guide to how self storage pricing is worked out explains what changes the monthly price and how to compare quotes fairly.
What information should you have ready before you request a quote?
| Detail | Why the team needs it |
|---|---|
| Your name, mobile number and email | To call you back and send the quote |
| A list of items, or rough room count | To suggest a room size |
| Your preferred facility | Delhi, Noida or Gurugram |
| Expected start date | To check availability |
| How long you expect to store | To discuss the plan |

- Monthly charge, and whether GST is included.
- Minimum period and notice to end the plan.
- Access arrangements and timings.
- Security, CCTV and pest control.
- Cost of pickup and packing, as separate lines.
- Rules on what can and can't be stored.
Should you visit before booking?
Visiting lets you see the rooms, the building and how access works. It's especially useful for long-term or business storage. Call +91-9090206090 to arrange it. If you can't visit, ask the team for details and photos.
What should you do in the first week?
- Check that everything on your list arrived, using box numbers.
- Note any damage straight away and tell the team.
- Keep your agreement and inventory at home and in a cloud folder.
- Make a simple map of the unit.
- Set a reminder for payments.
What if your needs change?
If you need more or less space, or want to end the plan, contact the team and ask about the options and notice terms. Monthly plans with no lock-in make changes simpler than a fixed contract. See how monthly storage plans work.
What are common booking mistakes?
- Guessing the size without a list.
- Not asking whether quotes include GST.
- Booking pickup without checking society rules.
- Not checking the storage rules before packing.
- Not keeping a copy of the agreement and inventory.
What happens on move-in day?
- Arrive at the agreed time with your ID and booking details, or confirm the time with the pickup partner.
- Ask the team to walk you through how access to your room works.
- Goods are placed in the room, heavy items first and at the back.
- Check your list as items go in.
- Lock your room and keep your access details safe.
Should you plan the layout before move-in?
Yes. A quick sketch of where furniture, boxes and things you'll need first will go saves time on the day. Keep a walkway if you'll be visiting. See how to lay out a storage unit.
Is booking different for businesses?
The steps are the same. Business customers can get a GST invoice, so share your business name and GST details when you request a quote. See how business storage is billed.
Step 6: how do you get ready for move-in day?
- Pack in sturdy boxes, label every box on two sides, and number them against your inventory.
- Clean and dry everything, especially appliances. See storing a fridge, TV and washing machine.
- Plan the load: heavy furniture in first along the back wall, the boxes you may need last, near the door.
- Photograph the room once it's packed, before you lock it.
If you'd like help moving goods from home, ask the team about partner transport on your call.
